The story behind the straight talk

I have spent more than forty years helping people make hard decisions. It took a few of my own to understand what that really takes.

My straight talk started on a Canadian farm, where you rolled up your sleeves, told the truth, and got on with it. Waiting for perfect conditions never got much done.

Since 1982 I have worked in financial services, sitting with people through the biggest money decisions of their lives. I learned early that money is rarely only about money. Behind the numbers sit fear, responsibility, and hope, and the real question is almost always the same: how do I know I am making the right decision?

Through more than three decades in Toastmasters, and the Distinguished Toastmaster designation, I learned how much clear communication shapes the decisions we make and the lives we build.

And through my own divorce, grief, and rebuilding, I learned what strength actually is. Strength is not pretending everything is fine. It is telling the truth about what is happening, facing what is in front of you, and making the next clean decision. That is where my compassionate straight talk was born, and where the Clean Decision Method™ and the Gravity Framework™ beneath it came from.
